During this year in math class we used a program called connected math two. There are eight units in connected math two and each unit is based on mathematical ideas like fractions and decimals. We have finished five of the eight and we are working and the sixth book which is How Likely Is It.

In the beginning of each book there are three questions based on the concepts you will be learning. The questions will give you a little heads up about what you are going to learn. The questions will be related to the investigations that we will do. During the investigations we will learn concepts that will help us with more investigations in the future. While we are working on the problems in the book we will talk about what we are trying to solve as a group sometimes or we will explain it with our partners. There are usually about 2 to 4 problems to solve in each investigation. At the end of each investigation we do a reflection on that investigation.Reflections will make sure you understood the investigation because you will have to answer questions about the problem. http://connectedmath.msu.edu/components/student.shtml
Once we have finished the book we take a test on what we have learned in the book. The test is usually about 30 questions long. In the test there are usually multiple choice questions and short answer questions. During each investigation there will be homework given. The homework is called A.C.E. which stands for Applications Connections and Extensions. The homework will review the ideas that we have learned throughout the day. There is usually homework every day that isn’t very hard if you followed the lesson during the day. The homework usually takes about 25 to 30 minutes to finish and complete correctly.

In conclusion math is a good thing to know. Math will help you in your life and will always be around you. During this year I have learned many things that will help me in my future in middle school and high school. This year has been a good year and I’m looking forward to next year.
